Why I should operate my TPR valve every 6 months at least.
We recently installed a water line to a new fridge in Parnell.
As a courtesy for our clients, we ensure correct operation of hot water cylinder valves whenever we are on any site. We also explain how to operate and when to operate the valves.
In this instance the customer’s TPR valve did not operate correctly. When we actioned the lever on the valve there was no water release. This is dangerous as the TPR valve is the final safety valve that stops your hot water cylinder turning into a bomb.
When we removed the valve you can see how badly it is blocked as compared to a brand new valve.
The actioning of the lever should stop this build up, and keep your cylinder safety valve operating correctly. The TPR valve is usually directly threaded into the cylinder either on the top or side
Our explanation of how to action both valves is here
