Winter is the time that rats become a pest
You’ve had a leak in the wall, under the house or some other type of burst water supply pipe.
As the weather cools down your beautiful home becomes a haven for the local rodent population as they try to find a cosy place for the cooler months.
Therein lies an issue. Over the past 30 to 40 years, water supply piping has been gradually replaced from rigid galvanised and copper supply to various iterations of multi- and single-layer plastic piping.
We have noted that over these months the amount of leak repairs increases due to vermin action.
What can be done to stop this from happening?
Ensure that all piping is clipped off the ground. This is not a foolproof option, but it does reduce the chances of a chewed pipe considerably.
Pipe the under house or ceiling in copper. This is an expensive option.
Try to completely block the house from vermin ingress, which is nearly impossible.
Lay bait and hope for the best.
Pipes that are in the walls are not impossible for the vermin to get to, so in this case it is very hard to stop as rats and mice can squeeze into the smallest of gaps.
In any case, should you want a little preventative clipping, or you have been hit by a thirsty rodent, don’t hesitate to contact us for a quick and easy solution.
