Is it really worth cleaning out your guttering on a regular basis?

Recently we visited a job in Devonport where the owner's back patio was getting consistently flooded.

Water on the ground was getting away slowly, but why was there so much water down there in the first place?

We looked into the ground water where we found a partially working drainage coil at the bottom of a retaining wall. We looked into the downpipes and checked for blockages. Then, in collaboration with the owner, we looked to the heavens, to notice a veritable jungle above.

This is what we were greeted by when atop a ladder.

Can’t see the forest for the trees

Partial soil removal

George of the jungle, eat your heart out. The built up soil in the guttering was deep enough to plant potatoes!

Cleared guttering

We are now waiting for the inevitable next Auckland rain storm to test whether the blocked guttering was the main culprit.

If you can’t get atop a ladder yourself, please don’t hesitate to call us. We have various one-off and yearly plans that can mitigate these issues from ever happening.
