historic Intermittent Leak FOUND
We have recently been working of a renovation where we are repiping the entire bathroom and laundry in Remuera.
During the deconstruction process we noticed a fairly large amount of mould in the wall of the shower.
As we were peeling back the layers of the shower box onion, we came upon the culprit.
During the initial lining of the shower, in the late 80s, a wayward gib clout had found its way straight into the shower outlet piping.
It would only be leaking during showering, and not that obvious as it was a small hole partially plugged by a nail.
However, over time as the nail continued to rust, the leak would have got worse and worse.
Luckily for the client, this was only a guest bathroom, and wasn’t used very often.
We took a couple photos, for our records, and now for yours.
